Parging
A thin coat of a cement or polymeric mortar is applied to a concrete or masonry structure for refinement of the surface. The purpose of parging is to create a contiguous surface by filling surface air voids and to level a surface with extreme roughness. It can also be used to prepare a surface for top coating with a high-performance protective coating. Parging is a low-cost alternative to help rejuvenate a structural masonry wall whose mortar has begun to fail and also creating air tightness for apartments.
